The musical setting of Clare Harner’s Immortality follows the ebb of the poem as it opens in the grief of death with an encouraging appeal not to weep. The grieving process is illustrated through the use of counterpoint – as if thoughts and feelings are weaving through acceptance and healing. This work is dedicated to conductor Kevin Riehle.
